Terms of service
Last updated: 27 July 2026. These terms apply to domestic plumbing work supplied by Mateusz Piotr Gierczak, trading as GMP Plumbing Services, sole trader in England.
Service scope
GMP Plumbing Services provides the domestic plumbing services described on this website. Gas work is not advertised or undertaken. Work requiring a different registration, specialist competence, equipment or contractor may be declined or referred elsewhere.
Enquiries and remote assessments
An initial assessment using descriptions, photographs or videos is normally free. It is intended to judge whether the job is suitable, what further information is needed and whether a visit should be arranged. It is not a guaranteed diagnosis.
Estimates and quotations
An estimate based on remote information may change if access, dimensions, concealed damage, seized fittings, incorrect parts, unsafe conditions or additional faults differ from what was shown. Any fixed quotation will identify the included work. Additional work or material changes should be agreed before proceeding where reasonably possible.
Call-out, travel and diagnostic charges
A call-out, travel or diagnostic charge may apply where the property is outside the normal service area, substantial travel is required, the issue needs a separate inspection, or the necessary access and information are not available. Any such charge must be explained and agreed before the visit is booked.
Booking an appointment
A booking is confirmed only after the property address, date or time window, expected work and any known charges have been agreed. The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the relevant fittings, stop valves, services and working area.
Payment
Payment is accepted by bank transfer or cash. For ordinary small jobs, payment is due immediately after completion unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing.
A deposit or staged payment may be requested where materials must be ordered, the job is expected to require more than one visit, or significant working time has been reserved. The amount, purpose and payment schedule will be confirmed before the booking is accepted. A deposit is not automatically non-refundable; any deduction after cancellation must reflect properly incurred costs or actual loss.
Customer-supplied parts
Where the customer supplies a fitting or part, the customer is responsible for obtaining the correct item and dealing with product defects through the seller or manufacturer. Installation may be declined where an item is unsuitable, damaged, incomplete, unsafe or incompatible.
Cancellations and missed appointments
Appointments may normally be cancelled without an appointment charge by giving at least 24 hours’ notice. Direct costs already incurred, such as specially ordered non-returnable materials, may still be payable where lawful and clearly explained.
Where less than 24 hours’ notice is given, the customer is unavailable, or safe and reasonable access is not provided, a reasonable charge may be made for travel, reserved time and direct costs actually caused by the cancellation. It will not be used as a penalty, and reasonable exceptional circumstances may be considered.
Consumer cancellation rights
Where a consumer contract is concluded at a distance or away from the trader’s business premises, statutory cancellation rights may apply. The customer will receive the required cancellation information where applicable.
If the customer wants non-urgent work to begin during a statutory cancellation period, GMP Plumbing Services will obtain an express request before starting. If the customer then cancels after work has begun, a proportionate amount may be payable for work properly performed and costs properly incurred. Where the service has been completed in full after the required request and acknowledgement, the statutory right to cancel that completed service may end.
Different rules may apply to genuinely urgent repairs expressly requested by the customer. The nature and extent of the urgent work should be recorded.
Unsafe or unsuitable conditions
Work may be stopped, postponed or declined where there is unsafe access, suspected asbestos, uncontrolled water, structural risk, dangerous electrics, aggressive behaviour, contamination, or work outside the agreed or competent scope. The customer remains responsible for disclosed charges and work already properly completed.
Damage and existing condition
Plumbing repairs may reveal corrosion, concealed leaks, weak fittings or previous defective work. GMP Plumbing Services is responsible for carrying out the agreed service with reasonable care and skill, but cannot accept responsibility for pre-existing defects or unavoidable failure of fragile components that could not reasonably be identified beforehand.
Complaints
Concerns should be reported promptly with a clear description and supporting photographs where useful. GMP Plumbing Services should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, put right an issue relating to the agreed work.
Legal rights
Nothing in these terms removes or restricts rights that cannot legally be excluded, including the customer’s rights under applicable consumer law.
